We hope you have been enjoying your summer and will continue to enjoy the remainder of it. The new school year will be here before we know it.
This school year you will notice many changes throughout our SYC environment. As most of you know Stephanie Rottmayer retired as SYC Director in May. We are excited that she will continue to provide her guidance and expertise as a program consultant. Susan Roscigno and Amy Rudawsky will now be Co-Directors as well as classroom teachers. Combined Susan and Amy, have over 17 years teaching experience at SYC, and 6 years experience as a parent at SYC. Susan and Amy are committed to the SYC philosophy and look forward to taking on this new role.
You may notice some other changes inside our building. Many classroom teachers will be in different classrooms and with different teams than they have been with for the past few years. We have such talented teachers and look forward to what they will bring to their new environment, learning from and with each other and the children.
Lastly, the other change you’ll notice to our environment is the removal of the large pine tree in the courtyard and the final stages of building construction. Although this tree has been a big symbol at SYC, it was necessary to be removed both because it was unwell and as part of the courtyard and hallway redesign. On the positive side, we have a lot more light in the classrooms, the hallways between the church and SYC will be widened and ADA compliant, and 2-year-old families will not have to go back outside to enter the classroom. And we’ll have a new courtyard area to explore as the construction wraps up in the fall.
We know change can be hard as well as exciting. Whether we are prepared for it or not, it comes all the same. Our goal is to make these transitions as seamless as possible. Thank you for trusting us and joining us on this journey!
